Yeah, Band!!

Last Saturday Katie got to participate in a First Year Honor Band.  Students from around the state were recommended by their band directors.  We had to leave at 6:30 a.m. and drive and hour away (with a stop at McDonald's drive-thru for breakfast).  Katie was so excited that she hardly slept the night before.  She kept looking to see what time it was.  They had been given the music for four songs in advance to practice.  They spent most of the day practicing together but they also had a few other activities and they got to hear a concert by the directors.  Families came at 4:30 for a concert.  I was very impressed  with the performance especially because all the members of her band had just started playing their instruments this year.  It sure brought back a lot of band memories for me.
